Dr. Richard Middaugh

Dr. Richard Middaugh has over 40 years experience in inorganic chemistry and electrochemistry. During his 26 years at Energizer Battery (formerly Eveready Battery), he progressed from scientist to Director of Technology, with work in the areas of aqueous alkaline zinc, lithium pyrite as well as exploration and development of other new battery chemistries. He managed the transition to mercury-free alkaline zinc manganese batteries, laid the groundwork for the recently introduced prismatic Zn-Air products, and led initiatives in quality system improvements and competency platform development. Prior to joining Energizer, he spent 13 years in teaching and researching inorganic and electrochemistry at the University of Kansas and Northeastern University. Richard has Ph.D in Chemistry from the University of Illinois and an A.B in Chemistry from Harvard University.

Dr. Hans-Walter Praas

Dr. Hans-Walter Praas has a master's degree in physics and a Ph.D. in chemistry. He started his industrial carrier at Varta AG R&D Centre Germany, where he collected experience in lead acid and lithium ion battery technologies. As co-founder, CTO and business development manager, he expanded his experience into consumer Lithium Polymer production at IONITY AG. After a successful business development approach in nano-scale cathode materials, he started Texsys GmbH which distributed, developed and scaled up wearable technology products in health and sports businesses. He has also served as a senior consultant for a tier one mobilcom provider, advisory board member in energy storage orientated technical start-up companies (automotive, industrial, and consumer) and general advisor for a micro fuel business development.
