ReVolt Technology, Ltd Forms Technical Advisory Board Company Attracts Renowned Experts in Industrialization of Battery Technologies
Staefa, Switzerland, January 20, 2009 – ReVolt Technology Ltd, a technology company, which has developed a rechargeable zinc-air battery, today announced the formation of its Technical Advisory Board. ReVolt Technology has formed a Technology Advisory Board to assess relevant technology trends both within and outside of the battery industry and to leverage decades of experience in relevant material science, scale-up and successful technology transfer experience for a range of secondary battery systems. The board members bring significant technical knowledge, a global network and invaluable industry acumen to the ReVolt team, which will help guide future technology and related business development strategy.
Inaugural members include:
Dr. Jerry Barker has over 25 years experience in electrochemical science and technology. Areas of expertise include: Energy Storage Technology, Lithium and Lithium-ion Batteries, Electro active Phosphate Materials, Semiconductor Electrodeposition, Photovoltaics and IP. He has published over 75 peer reviewed technical papers, been named inventor on more than 80 issued US patents, and is a current reviewer for 14 leading international journals. From 1992 – 2005 he was employed by Valence Technology Inc., where he was involved in Lithium and Lithium-ion Battery Research and Development. He was employed in at Valence in various R&D functions including Research Director and Chief Scientist.
“I am pleased to have the opportunity to join the ReVolt Technical Advisory Board and help bring its rechargeable Zinc-Air technology to full commercialization. It is exciting to be part of a truly international team of experts focused on meeting the needs of the world’s ever growing demand for clean reusable energy storage,” stated Dr. Jerry Barker.
Dr. Hans-Walter Praas has a master’s degree in physics and a Ph.D. in chemistry. He started his industrial carrier at Varta AG R&D Centre Germany, where he collected experience in lead acid and lithium ion battery technologies. As co-founder, CTO and business development manager, he expanded his experience into consumer Lithium Polymer production at IONITY AG. After a successful business development approach in nano-scale cathode materials, he started Texsys GmbH which distributed, developed and scaled up wearable technology products in health and sports businesses. He has also served as a senior consultant for a tier one mobilcom provider, advisory board member in energy storage orientated technical start-up companies (automotive, industrial, and consumer) and general advisor for a micro fuel business development.
“I am delighted to join the technical advisory board and be part of the technology team of ReVolt. I will use my worldwide industrial battery technology, market and manufacturing experience to help get ReVolt’s enabling technology into commercially viable products. The ReVolt energy density targets will revolutionize energy storage for the future,” commented Dr. Hans-Walter Praas.
Mr. Wade Guindy brings more than 27 years of experience in engineering, R&D, product development, operations and executive management. Prior to joining Eksigent Technologies, as VP of R&D and Mfg., he served as Executive Vice President of research, development and manufacturing for Solicore Technology, where he was responsible for scaling up and commercializing the company's solid-state electrolyte battery system. Guindy previously served as Vice President of process engineering at Valence Technology where he transferred the technology from Bellcore Labs to Valence and then subsequently to its facilities in N. Ireland. Mr. Guindy was subsequently instrumental in the technology transfer and scale-up of several licensees. He has also held several technical and management positions at GTE within the electronic defense industry. Guindy holds eight patents, with three additional patents pending. He holds a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering.
"I am honored to be named to the Technology Advisory Board of ReVolt and look forward to contributing to its continuing success. ReVolt's promising technology differentiates itself through fundamental breakthroughs and innovation in rechargeable Zinc-Air technology, which is likely to disrupt the status quo in the battery market," said Wade Guindy.
“The experience and insight of Wade, Hans-Walter and Jerry are very welcome and critical to helping ReVolt bring our ‘game changing’ Zinc-Air technology to commercial markets as efficiently as possible,” stated Adam Laubach, CTO ReVolt Technology. “The Technical Advisory Board members have a combined 60 years of knowledge with a multitude of electrochemical secondary systems, product configurations and production methods, as well as, a range of global contacts; we expect that the board members will be able to open many doors for our various technology and product development efforts.”
ReVolt’s zinc-air, rechargeable battery technology provides a high energy solution for consumer and industrial market applications that is environmentally safe, reusable and recyclable. Revolt’s zinc-air technology offers up to three times the energy density of lithium-ion in an inherently safe package representing a major leap forward and compelling value proposition for energy-hungry devices.
About ReVolt Technology (www.revolttechnology.com) ReVolt Technology Ltd. is a technology company, which has developed a rechargeable zinc-air battery. ReVolt’s batteries may enable more high-power consumer devices and increase the lifetime of existing consumer devices significantly. The technology is a result of six years of intense research and development at SINTEF (the largest independent research institute in Scandinavia). Research on material combinations has solved issues historically related to the metal-air technology; power, lifetime and rechargeability.
