At work and at leisure, in our daily lives we strongly depend upon batteries. Between us we use a wide variety of energy intensive devices, from mobile phones, laptops and tablet PCs, to hearing aids, medical equipment and electric vehicles. It is therefore not surprising that the battery industry is worth an estimated $48 billion and is growing annually. As we become more
technology dependent and demand more functionality and longer run times, batteries have to keep up with the pace of development. Most batteries use lithium, a limited resource, which is expensive to produce and associated with safety risks and environmental concerns. ReVolt is developing a rechargeable zinc-air battery, which offers
significant benefits such as reduced cost of sourcing and handling raw materials, increasing the recycling potential and mitigating the impact on the planet imposed by other battery types. With our patented air electrode ReVolt batteries will also enable products to have a higher energy density and a longer life cycle.
